Stories and images are powerful tools for captivating and teaching children. For the young child, the most natural ways to learn are through visuals they see, stories they hear, and things they touch. You simply read the stories in Alphabet Tales at bedtime or story-time, and without trying to teach anything at all, your child will gain important pre-reading concepts! The stories and illustrations in Alphabet Tales will forever link letter symbols with their sounds, providing a solid background for reading. For Kindergartners, learning is easy because this book takes a multisensory approach to learning letters and their sounds. Hand-motions and writing tips are included, as well as tactile activities that reach kinesthetic, tactile, and visual learners.

About Alphabet Tales

Meet Abner!

Alphabet Tales is filled with colorful illustrations, exciting and easy to understand language, and best of all… you get to meet the charming residents of Alphabury Wood and take part in their entertaining adventures throughout the book. From Abner Meets the Ants, to Zip and Zap Save the Day, each letter is represented by a lovable character your family will never forget! Perfect for family time, bedtime or anytime reading!

Alphabet Tales includes hands-on, follow-up activities which are excellent for beginners, and for quick remediation for children who are uncertain about letter sounds. The hands-on activities are powerful for children who are visual and kinesthetic or right-brained learners.

How to Use Alphabet Tales

1. Read one story at a time, just enjoying the experience with your child. For preschoolers, you can just stop here!

2. In the back of the book you will find a mini-lesson for each story. Do the hand motion for the letter together.

3. Encourage your child to write the letter following the directions in the mini-lesson. Alternately, you may decide to use a dry erase Alphamat.

4. Provide your child with craft materials and give them time to do the activity while they let their new-found knowledge go into long term memory.

Why Does This Alphabet Work?

Each letter in the alphabet is designed to match its shape - the F is a FLAG, M is MOUNTAINS, for example. The tie to a known object links shape of letter to its sound. Images make it easy for children to learn sounds as they are learning a letter. The images and stories make it impossible for the child to forget the letter and its sound - one of the most fundamental and necessary skills needed for learning to read!

Customer Review:

"Alphabet Tales is a brilliant resource to open the eyes of those who struggle to learn in more traditional ways. The stunning pictures and well thought our stories, invite readers of all levels to begin exploring and realizing their natural abilities to learn!" Theresa Almonte, Wyoming Public Schools, MI

"My kinesthetic preschooler (PreK 4) doesn't sit still for books and alphabet letters are boring. However, I am able to get him to sit long enough to read the stories of 4 letters at a time for this book. He even laughed out loud when he saw the 2 tables were the upper and lower case T."
